I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Utah. In 2000, I moved to New Jersey, and of all things became the CEO of multiple ski areas in the Northeast. After 12 years of operating the ski resorts, my husband and I decided to start our own consulting business, in which one of my clients was an acupuncturist and chiropractor. I had never experienced nor been exposed to acupuncture before, and I was amazed how much relief patients felt from their treatments.
In the midst of working for the acupuncturist, I suffered an acute sciatica attack. Being an avid athlete, the thought of not being able to exercise was unbearable. After four weeks of acupuncture treatments, the pain was completely gone. At that point, I realized I had to know everything about the medicine. I graduated with a Masters of Science in Acupuncture from the Eastern School of Acupuncture and Traditional Medicine three years later. I am currently licensed in the State of New Jersey and State of Utah.
I believe pain and disease are a communication between the body and the brain. Pills and injections temporarily mask the signals your body are sending to the brain. Unfortunately, since we live in a fast paced world, people are often looking for a quick fix through these medications, which can have side effects worse than the initial injury or disease. On the other hand, acupuncture is a natural medicine that will sustain long term health and healing. It's important to invest into yourself especially when trying to heal.
My practice specializes in sports injuries, pain and stress management, and anxiety relief. However, I also treat a large variety of health concerns and will personalize and tailor your treatment based on your needs.
Our bodies are quite adept at repairing themselves. I use methods that aid that natural ability with modalities like acupuncture, nutrition, and physical manipulations, like myofascial release and cupping.
I believe many illnesses are caused by the toxins in our foods. Avoiding manufactured ingredients and pesticides reduces the harmful substances entering our bodies. Replacing them with cleaner, more organically grown food and natural plant remedies aids the body in healing itself and preventing future disease.
